Latest Injury Updates in Europe

Football action never stops, and with that the possibilities of injuries to occur is always present. Either from a league game, cup match, friendly, or even at practice, a player could get a minor bump or get badly injured. Here are some of the latest players that are continuously nursing their injuries on the sidelines.

PREMIER LEAGUE
Ross Barkley (Toe Injury – Late February)
In Everton’s recent FA Cup match, Ross Barkley suffered an injury on his toe and the extent of the injury is still unknown. Everton is still assessing the injury, if the toe suffered any displacement and is hoping that it is not fractured. If it is indeed fractured, Barkley could be out for a period of up to six weeks.

Antolin Alcaraz (Overload – Late January)
According to Goal, Antolin Alcaraz is expected to miss two weeks of football due to muscle fatigue. The Paraguayan defender has been plagued with injuries since joining Everton in the summer, having undergone surgery on a persistent hernia problem.

Guy Demel (Concussion – Few Days)
West Ham United defender Guy Demel was carried out on a stretcher after a collision with teammate Roger Johnson. The collision made him fall heavily to the ground and he needed to receive oxygen right on the pitch. On latest reports Guy Demel has been released from the hospital and will be nursing his concussion for the next few days.

LA LIGA BBVA
Andres Iniesta (Knee injury – Day to Day)
The Spanish star was taken off at halftime during their fixture against Atletico Madrid. The recent medical report has stated that Iniesta got a badly bruised knee and that there are no other complications. His expected return would depend on how fast the bruising would subside. Manager Tata Martino took him out of the game as a precaution so no further injuries would be sustained or get aggravated.

Tiago Mendes (Ankle injury – Doubtful)
Atletico’s midfielder Tiago Mendes also suffered an injury in their fixture against Barcelona. The midfielder sustained a bruised right ankle and wasn’t able to attend their training. As the club went to get Tiago’s ankle assessed, the results ruled out a major injury for the midfielder, but he is still doubtful for their Copa Del Rey match against Valencia.

BUNDESLIGA
Maximillian Beister (Cruciate Ligament injury – Out for season)
Maximillian Beister suffered an injury in a friendly against Eredivisie club Vitesse and is set to miss the rest of the Bundesliga season. Right after the game, they had Beister go on an MRI scan and the results confirmed that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and that he will have to undergo surgery in the following days. This is really hurtful for the 23-year old forward, as it was an impressive campaign for him until the injury set him back.
