The season end is just a few matches away for most of the football leagues in Europe but some players’ season might just end a little bit earlier than expected due to costly injuries.
Lionel Messi may have won the championship with FC Barcelona, but his injury woes had seemed to overshadow this accomplishment. With just a couple of matches left for the Primera Division champions, the Argentine superstar will remain sidelined for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old won his fourth player of the year award this season but hasn’t been playing the same since he obtained a hamstring injury during the Champions League quarterfinals.
Also possibly out for this season is Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere who is currently mending his ankle injury. Wilshere is considered as one of the best players from England so he will definitely be missed by his team mates when they are playing friendly matches against Ireland and Brazil because he will be undergoing a minor operation on his ankle at the end of the season.
Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze on the other hand is battling to get to 100% fitness before the end of the season and the upcoming Champions League final. Currently undergoing normal training with the club, he is highly likely to play soon after missing the last couple of Bundesliga matches due to a thigh injury. Gotze is also ready to transfer to their league rivals of Bayern Munich from July 1st.
Over at the Danish Superliga, FC Copenhagen’s Thomas Kristensen obtained a muscle injury in their game against Esbjerg and it is still not confirmed when will he be able to get back on the field. FC Copenhagen, who won their 10thDanish title this season did not play the Danish midfielder on their unfortunate 1-0 defeat against Randers. Kristensen started 25 times this season for the Superliga champs, and with one more match left, the champions might just sit him down for this one.
