Champions League Final 2013 – Latest Injury News

It is the biggest game of the season and in just a few days it will all transpire. The battle of the German super clubs – Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich at the Champions League Final.

After trailing behind Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, Borussia Dortmund are hoping to steal the CL crown from their long time rival. Previously in the semi-finals, it was Spain versus Germany gunning it out, but the results were pretty much lopsided.

Borussia Dortmund defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid 4-3 overall, with Robert Lewandowski scoring 4 goals in their first matchup. Whereas Bayern Munich annihilated Barcelona by defeating the Primera Division champions 7-0 overall, in matches that the Argentine superstar Lionel Messi didn’t make any goals primarily because he was bothered by a hamstring injury which turned out to cost him the end of the season. But nonetheless it was the strong play of Thomas Muller who led the Bundesliga champions to the dominating semi-final victory.

The Champions League Final is just right around the corner and both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich is in total preparation for the much anticipated football match of the year. However, there are some players who might or might not be able to participate in the final match.

Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo has a knee injury and it is still not known whether he will be 100% fit for the match. It is the same situation for Holger Badstuber who is currently mending a knee injury, which is said to be not a crucial ligament injury so the the complications does not appear to be too severe. However, as Badstuber has been injured for a long period he will most likely not even sit on the bench Saturday night.

For Borussia Dortmund, Mats Hummels’ participation in the Champions League final is almost 100% sure as it is reported that he only sprained his ankle and not broke his foot as initially feared. Whereas Mario Gotze who have been mending his thigh injury, is also a bet to play in the Champions League Final as he is said to be picked to play in the match against his future club of Bayern Munich, after missing the last matches with his current club of Borussia Dortmund. The match against his future employer will be the last match in the black and yellow jersey for the German superstar.

It is expected to be a match of the ages, as tensions are high when the Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich battle it out one last time this season and in the biggest stage of football – the Champions League Final.
