Paris Saint-Germain won their sixth Ligue 1 title on Sunday thanks to a 9-0 win over last placed Troyes. The victory put Les Parisiens 25 points ahead of second-placed Monaco, clinching the title for the fourth straight year.
Match Highlights
The match opened up with an easy task considering their lead in the table and that there are only 8 games remaining in the season. This ensured Laurent Blanc’s men could celebrate the sixth Ligue 1 title in the club’s history. Three goals from Cavani, Pastore and Rabiot in the opening 19 minutes all scored within 6 minutes put the game beyond struggling Troyes.
But then the task at hand proved to be even more clinical when Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck a nine-minute second-half hat trick, scoring his 99th, 100thand 101st Ligue 1 goals since he was signed from AC Milan in 2012. An own goal from Matthieu Saunier made it 7-0 before Lossemy Karaboue was sent off when he gave away a penalty, on which Cavani missed before tucking home the rebound. Zlatan concluded the onslaught with his 102nd Ligue 1 goal in the 89th minute. FT PSG 9-0 Troyes.
Goodbye Zlatan
Amidst the celebration, PSG will most likely be departing with their star striker this summer as Ibrahimovic has already confirmed that he will be leaving once his contract expires. Manchester United and Liverpool have been heavily linked with him.
Zlatan is set to decide on his future in the coming months with clubs in MLS, China and Qatar also looking to acquire his services.
