In lieu with that we bring you this week’s La Liga injury updates.

Benzema doubtful

Karim Benzema picked up a hamstring injury during the Madrid derby last February 27 and has been posting videos on social media about his road to recovery, recently taking up boxing to aid his endurance training as he has not been in any field training since his injury. The Frenchman should be fit again in time for El Clasico against Barcelona in the Spanish league at the Camp Nou on April 2 but they are expecting him to suit up against Sevilla 10 days from now. Updates on his injuries are covered by football media on a day to day basis.

Torres misses training

Fernando Torres missed Atletico Madrid training on Tuesday due to a knee injury. “Fernando Torres was not able to train with the rest of his team-mates in the first session of the week,” read a club statement. “After the fixture against Valencia, Atletico’s striker felt discomfort in his right knee. He underwent diagnostic imaging tests (MRI) and the medical report indicates that he is suffering a knee injury that has caused swelling and pain. He will undergo medical and physical therapy treatment. Whether this injury will take him out for the season is still unknown.

Rakitic returns

Ivan Rakitic returned from injury during last Sunday’s win against Eibar. The Croatian international has been a key figure for the Catalan giants again this season, making 43 appearances in all competitions and scoring six goals. But he picked up a foot injury in Thursday’s 5-1 win at Rayo Vallecano and Coach Luis Enrique has revealed that the 27-year-old midfielder has struggled to recover in time for the trip to Ipurua but with proper guidance and training he was able to speed up his recovery just in the nick of time.
