Bourussia Dortmund comes up short once again, might lose important players next season

The world of football has crowned the new Champions League winners in the name of Bayern Munich who won in dramatic fashion.

It was all tied with one goal each as the match was about to reach full time until Robben’s emphatic goal and eventually game winning break through in the 89th minute sealed the victory for the already Bundesliga Champions. The score was 2-1 with Borussia Dortmund coming in at second place again behind their arch rivals, but, the Bundesliga and Champions League title might not be the only thing that they have lost, as they could possibly also lose some of their key players next season.

There have been a lot of rumours for quite a few of the Borussia Dortmund players whether they would still be back wearing the black and yellow jersey next year. If it does push through that their key players do leave, it would be hard to imagine that they would be back competing in the same level as they do now for the next season.

First on the transfer gossip list is Lukasz Piszczek, who is rumoured to be going to the English Premier League next season to play for Arsenal for £ 12 million. The right back is being eyed by Arsene Wenger to possibly replace Bacary Sagna as the Frenchman could very well leave the club.

Ilkay Gundogan who scored on the penalty kick during their clash with Bayern Munich, is also rumoured to be transferring to another club next season. Although with low probability, it is rumoured that he will go to either Real Madrid who is currently offering £ 20 million or to Arsenal for £ 22 million.

Perhaps the biggest loss for Dortmund if he does transfer is the Poland native Robert Lewandowski who had a magnificent season this year. That is why he is being targeted by several big name clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid and even the team that just recently defeated Dortmund for the Champions League title, Bayern Munich. Lewandowski has been recently rumoured to transfer to Real Madrid for € 25 million. Whereas the German powerhouse club of Bayern Munich who just recently grabbed Mario Gotze from Dortmund, has been rumoured to offer £ 21 million for the Polish superstar.

Mats Hummels is also rumoured to Arsenal for € 24 million, however, this is with very low probability. Just recently Hummels implied that his club, Borussia Dortmund, will be able to recover from their heart breaking defeats next year. He also acknowledged that they might lose a couple of players for next season so it would be much more of a challenge for Dortmund to be as good as they currently are. The German footballer mentioned that sometimes other teams have more money than others.
