Borussia Dortmund’s Injury List

It hasn’t been good so far for BVB as their injuries keep on piling up at the wrong time of the season. Currently standing third in the league, the seven players injured will definitely not help them on improving their current ranking in the German Bundesliga. Dortmund will have another competition in their mind as the Champions League will resume in just a couple of days, wherein they will face Zenit Saint Petersburg. Here are some of the players that are currently on the sidelines for Dortmund.

Marco Reus (Hamstring/Strain – Late February)
Marco Reus will now join Dortmund’s injury list as he sustained a hamstring/strain in their previous fixture against Werder Bremen. He left the match at the 65th minute and is scheduled to be back in two weeks. Reus is also a doubt for their upcoming Champions League game and it is not good for Manager Jurgen Klopp, with Jakub Blaszczykowski and Neven Subotic out for the rest of the season.

Sven Bender (Thigh Injury – Few Days)
Just like Reus, Sven Bender sustained a strain in his right thigh. Bender received treatment but was unable to finish the game wherein he also left on the 65th minute mark. Unlike Reus who might be out for two weeks, Bender is expected to be back in just a week’s span.

Mats Hummels (Ankle Injury – Late February)
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels injured his ankle in a friendly game against Fortuna Dusseldorf. A good thing for BVB is that the injury Hummels sustained was not a relapse of the injury that sidelined him for two months. The doctor of Dortmund Markus Braun confirmed that the ligaments torn in the previous injury has fully healed and that Hummels would only go on a two-week rehabilitation phase for the new injury.

Ilkay Gundogan (Back Injury – Few Days)
The German midfielder is still on his way on recovering from a back injury that he sustained at the start of the season. It has been confirmed by the clubs’ website that he will miss the first three games of the second half of the season. Another thing Dortmund has to worry is the fact that their influential midfielder has been linked with overseas clubs and might make a move in the summer transfer window. If this happens, he is the third influential player to leave the German Club.
