With a bit under three months left until the season ends, we have a very familiar trio looking to bag the La Liga crown this year. Barcelona (63 pts), Atletico Madrid (55 pts) and Real Madrid (54 pts).
Barcelona
Sitting at the top of the table with Messi, Suarez and Neymar racking up some good games from the front and Gerard Pique further proving to be one of a kind on the defensive side, Barca look to be in calm seas as they close in on the La Liga championship with their match against Sevilla this weekend. The Catalans are in a much better position than they were at this time last season, but they shouldn’t expect their rivals from Madrid to go down just yet.
Atletico Madrid
With only a one point advantage over their Madrid rivals, the situation in the Atletico locker room must be the opposite of relaxed. Midfielder Antoine Griezmann being the only prolific player in the squad, everyone else has to step up especially coming from their sloppy draw against Villareal. Currently second ranking Atletico must figure out their steps before the Madrid Derby this Saturday.
Real Madrid
Inching towards the Madrid Derby, Real has been performing rather poorly on the road. With the derby scheduled to be at the Bernabeu, we are expecting a stellar performance from the Los Blancos. Zidane has proved to be a good fit for the team and Ronaldo’s consistency is still felt. Real just has to bounce back from their depressing draw with Malaga. A win against their bitter rivals could potentially put pressure on Barcelona and push Atletico’s title hopes away.
Things look to be very exciting and competitive this weekend in La Liga.
