Chelsea’s returning manager Jose Mourinho is looking to reshape and reenergize Chelsea for them to compete at the highest level next season. With that in mind, we could expect a few transfer movements happening in the English Premier League’s Chelsea. Here are some of the potential candidates who could either transfer to Chelsea or possibly leave the club.
Who could be in?
Edison Cavani
Serie A’s top scorer Edison Cavani from Napoli is with medium probability going to Chelsea next season. The Italian club Napoli has put a £ 54 million price tag on their star player and as of now, Chelsea is in the lead of getting the Uruguayan striker. Returning Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho thinks that acquiring Cavani will be a great deal for his club because of the attacking power that the striker could possibly bring.
Wesley Sneijder
Netherlands native Wesley Sneidjer could also be going to Chelsea this upcoming season. Jose Mourniho is very intrigued by the former Dutch captain and could thus be a perfect fit in his club. Currently, the chances of Sneidjer going to Chelsea is with medium probability and for a transfer fee amounting to £ 12 million. Early this year, Sneidjer went from Italy’s Inter Milan to Turkish club Galatasaray SK.
Mario Gomez
Bayern Munich won the treble last season but could now face life without one of their key players to their championships – Mario Gomez. The German striker is currently linked with Manchester City and Chelsea, who both have medium probability in getting the 27 year old. Gomez also mentioned that the club that he will be considering, must have him as the team’s first choice striker for him to be convinced of transferring.
Who could be out?
Oriol Romeu
Spanish midfielder, Oriol Romeu has a chance of possibly being out of the English Premier League. Although with low probability, Romeu could be heading to his home country of Spain and could possibly join Celta Vigo for next season’s bout at La Liga BBVA. Jose Mourinho does not see Romeu fitting in his plan for the upcoming system so he may be leaving Chelsea for good if that is the case.
David Luiz
Chelsea defender David Luiz could possibly be switching to the Spanish League as well for next season. FC Barcelona has opened the bidding for the Brazilian defender with a £ 25 million bid if he joins the La Liga BBVA champions. However, Luiz is only a backup plan if Barca is not able to win their pursuit of Thiago Silva.
Fernando Torres
Another football player from Spain could possibly leave the English Premier League club, that player is Fernando Torres. Napoli had been in negotiations with Chelsea for Edinson Cavani, and now, also possibly for Torres as well. The 29 year old striker is currently valued for around € 30 million.
